Starting in mid-January 2025, all new stores will automatically use the most up-to-date versions of the product list and the category manager in the BigCommerce control panel. These catalog tools include our latest features for viewing and managing your products across multiple storefronts and sales channels.
Upgrading to the latest version of our product list and category manager has been a long-time requirement for using Multi-Storefront in your store. By making these the default configuration for all new stores, we’ve reduced the number of steps needed for creating additional storefronts. As a result, you can start using the modern catalog management experience before becoming accustomed to the features and layout of the old tools.
Furthermore, you can take advantage of our modern functionality immediately, including:
Product List | Category Manager |
Assigning products to storefronts and categories in bulk Configuring which product attributes are displayed in the list Editing product prices and stock directly within the list Managing product details across multiple inventory locations | Viewing category trees across all of your storefront Searching for specific categories by name Toggling storefront visibility of individual categories, or in bulk Navigating between categories while editing them |
To learn more, see Product List and Product Categories in the Help Center.
After creating a new trial store, go to Products › View to access your product list, or go to Products › Product Categories for the category manager. Both interfaces use the latest versions available, without requiring any additional action.
If you need to temporarily use the legacy product list or category manager, you can open the Version menu in each control panel area to switch back. This can be helpful if you have an existing store using the previous versions of these tools, and you want to have a consistent experience until you are ready to upgrade all of your stores. Note that the legacy product list and category manager cannot be used after enabling Multi-Storefront.
To return to the latest product list or category manager, open the Version menu again and follow the upgrade flow.
The latest versions of our catalog interfaces are optimized for Multi-Storefront, but even if your store has only one storefront, these tools provide functionality that make it easy to manage your products and categories within your control panel. Start making the most of your catalog management experience on new stores by leveraging these powerful and efficient tools.
