Founded in 2003 by Natalie van Dijk, Lekker Home is a luxury furniture retailer offering high-end, modern design pieces through its Boston showroom and online store.
Serving both B2C and B2B customers, Lekker Home’s collection includes furniture, lighting, and décor, with a focus on European design icons and emerging artists. As Curt Carpenter, Co-founder at Lekker Home, explains, “Lekker Home was inspired by the impact design can have on a person and a room.”
Even with its success, Lekker Home knew it needed a flexible and scalable ecommerce platform to support its growing B2B business and deliver a superior customer experience.
While Shopify Plus supported their B2C operations, Lekker Home needed a platform that could handle the complexities of B2B transactions, including custom pricing and product management.
After migrating to Magento, they quickly realized the platform required constant developer intervention for routine updates and fixes. Performance issues, particularly around page load times and SEO, further complicated their operations.
Carpenter shares, “Magento offered the flexibility we thought we needed, but at a tremendous cost — both financially and operationally. Most customizations required heavy developer involvement, which slowed us down and made it hard to justify the platform’s costs.”
With their Magento license set to expire in just three months, Lekker Home needed to act fast to avoid costly extensions. They evaluated their options and ultimately selected BigCommerce for its ability to handle both B2C and B2B requirements right out of the box.
Carpenter recalls, “BigCommerce stood out because of its powerful performance, security, and ease of use. It gave us the tools we needed to deliver the elevated experience our customers expect.”
To ensure they met their tight deadline, Lekker Home partnered with Arctic Leaf, a BigCommerce agency, to deliver the project. “Arctic Leaf was the only agency partner that could deliver a fully customized and feature-rich site within our timeline. Not only did they go live on time and on budget, but they did so without sacrificing any of the customizations that make our site unique,” Carpenter explains.

Once they transitioned to BigCommerce, Lekker Home’s sales and operations teams quickly realized the platform's potential for transforming their B2B operations. A key component of this transformation was BigCommerce’s B2B Edition, which allowed their B2B clients to manage quotes, view personalized pricing, and place orders — all without needing to rely on Lekker’s team.
To ensure a smooth rollout, Lekker Home conducted internal testing of the B2B portal, followed by a soft launch with a small group of clients. “This helped us identify what features our clients found most useful and where we could make improvements,” says Carpenter. “Now, the portal is available to all of our B2B clients, and we have a brief guide to help them get acquainted with its benefits.”
Their sales team uses the online portal as a key tool for managing client relationships and daily operations. “B2B Edition has been a game-changer,” Carpenter notes. “Clients can access the A+D Trade Portal to manage quotes, pricing, and orders on their own time, which has freed up our sales team to focus on service and new business.”
Lekker Home’s ERP challenges played a significant role in their decision to adopt Acumatica. Before Acumatica, they were using a POS system with basic ERP functionality, along with QuickBooks for financial management.
When their POS system was sunsetted, they needed a solution that would serve as a central hub for product management, inventory control, and tight integration with their website. After evaluating various ERP options, including NetSuite and Xero, they chose Acumatica for its scalability, cost-effectiveness, and flexibility.
Carpenter explains, “Acumatica allowed us to manage not only our product data but also our growing volume of orders and inventory with ease. During the COVID-19 boom, when demand for furniture skyrocketed, Acumatica was essential in keeping us on track.”
By integrating BigCommerce with Acumatica through the Acumatica Connector, Lekker Home streamlined data management across both B2C and B2B operations. “The connector synchronizes all our product, customer, and inventory data in one centralized system, allowing us to serve both residential customers and our B2B clients seamlessly,” says Carpenter.
Throughout the process, Lekker Home collaborated with BigCommerce’s implementation team to ensure a smooth launch. Their dedicated Implementation Project Manager played a crucial role in managing the tight timeline, ensuring all setup tasks were completed on time, and coordinating efforts between Arctic Leaf, the Acumatica VAR, and BigCommerce’s Solutions Architect team.
In addition, BigCommerce provided an Education Specialist who guided Lekker Home through best practices and helped resolve any initial challenges during the onboarding process.

Since switching to BigCommerce, Lekker Home has seen substantial improvements in site performance, particularly in terms of faster page load times and enhanced SEO. This has resulted in higher customer engagement, with visitors spending more time on the site and exploring a wider variety of products.
